Hi there, I’m Emma

I work as a project manager. I’m a parent and an expat living in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually evolved into a new chapter of life abroad.

How It Started

Moving to Netherlands wasn’t part of the master plan. Like many international relocations, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something much more significant.

The opening months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they needed to be.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that clicked for us, met other families, and began building something that felt stable.

Why I Built Current Light House Terra

Most information online was either corporate-level relocation guidance or superficial tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.

This site exists to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Netherlands.

What This Site Is (And Isn't)

What this site stands for:

  • Hands-on experience from living in Netherlands
  • Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
  • Updated whenever something truly changes

What this site is not:

  • Not a tourism authority resource
  • A sponsored-review platform
  • A generic travel blog

Looking Ahead

Our stay in Netherlands goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue recording our findings.

If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Best regards,

Emma
